ShedLife NZ – Guest Participation Terms

These terms are just to make sure we’re on the same page when you come into the Shedquarters to film a episode.

Last Updaed: 13/01/2026

Kia ora and welcome — stoked to have you on the ShedLife NZ Podcast.

Our goal is simple: A relaxed, honest conversation that helps you tell your story, share what you’re building, and have a laugh along the way. This show works best when it’s collaborative — when you win, we win, and we want the episode to be something you’re proud to share with your audience too.

You’ll have space to plug your stuff (naturally)

You’re welcome to talk about and promote your:

  • brand/business

  • products and services

  • events, launches, campaigns

  • socials, websites, and where people can find you

If there’s anything specific you want to mention, tell us before we start (or during) and we’ll make sure we get it in.

Important upfront: appearing does NOT mean you endorse us

Just so it’s crystal clear:

  • You are not endorsing Waikato Sheds, ShedLife NZ, or any of our other brands/products/services by coming on the show.

  • We will not say or imply you sponsor, approve, partner with, or are formally affiliated with us unless we separately agree that in writing.

  • We may promote the episode using “Featuring [Your Name]” — that’s promotion of the podcast content, not an endorsement.

We may also add a disclaimer like:
“Guest views are their own and do not constitute endorsement of Waikato Sheds or any affiliated brands.”

The practical bit (standard podcast terms)

To keep everything clear and fair:

  • We record the episode and we own the content we produce, and

  • You get a chance to review it for factual accuracy / legal / safety issues before it goes live (details below).

How you accept these Terms (implied consent)

If we send you a link to these Terms (by text, email, DM, or any other method) and you then attend and participate in recording, you are confirming that:

  • you’ve had a reasonable opportunity to read these Terms, and

  • you agree to be bound by them.

If you don’t agree: don’t participate in recording (including mic check, on-camera, or any recorded conversation). If you’re unsure, tell us before recording starts.

1) Consent to record

You consent to being audio and/or video recorded, photographed, and otherwise captured during your participation (the “Recording”), including your name, voice, likeness, and performance.

2) We own the content

We own all rights, title, and interest in:

  • The Recording (raw + edited),

  • All edits, cuts, transcripts, captions, subtitles, clips, stills, thumbnails, quotes, and derivative works,

  • And any other assets we create from the Recording
    (together, the “Content”).

3) The licence you give us (so we can publish and promote the episode)

You grant us a perpetual, worldwide, royalty-free, transferable licence to use, reproduce, edit, publish, distribute, publicly perform, communicate, and otherwise exploit the Content, in whole or part, in any format (now known or later developed), including podcast platforms, YouTube, websites, social media, and advertising for the Show.

4) No endorsement / no implied affiliation (full wording)

  • No endorsement: Your appearance on the Show does not mean you endorse Waikato Sheds, ShedLife NZ, the Producer, or any of our other brands, products, or services.

  • No implied affiliation: We won’t state or imply you sponsor, approve, partner with, or are formally affiliated with us unless separately agreed in writing.

  • Promoting the episode is OK: We may promote the episode and the Show using your name/likeness (e.g., “Featuring [Your Name]”). This is promotion of the podcast content, not an endorsement.

5) Your chance to review (industry best practice, limited vetting)

We’ll offer you a reasonable opportunity to review the episode before public release, but only to flag:

  • factual inaccuracies about you/your business (objectively verifiable facts),

  • legal/compliance issues (defamation, privacy, confidentiality, IP),

  • safety concerns or serious reputational risk (e.g., accidental personal info, identifying private individuals).

Vetting rules (so it stays workable):

  1. We may provide either a private preview link and/or time-stamped excerpts (our choice).

  2. You must respond with any requested changes within 3 business days (or another timeframe we state).

  3. If you don’t respond within the timeframe, the Content is treated as approved for release.

  4. This is not approval of: tone, pacing, story flow, jokes/banter, or general “I don’t like how I sound,” and it’s not control over titles/thumbnails/clips unless they clearly misrepresent you.

  5. We consider requests in good faith, but we have final editorial control, provided we don’t knowingly publish materially false or unlawful content.

6) Your responsibilities (keeping everyone safe)

You confirm that:

  • you have the right to participate and to grant these permissions,

  • you won’t knowingly share third-party confidential info without permission,

  • your statements are truthful to the best of your knowledge (or clearly your honest opinion),

  • you won’t provide content that infringes someone else’s rights.

7) Payment

Unless agreed in writing, you’re participating voluntarily and receive no fee or royalties.

8) Release of claims

To the fullest extent permitted by law, you release us from claims arising from our permitted use of the Content, except where we act unlawfully or with reckless disregard for the truth.

9) Removal requests

We’re not required to remove published Content. However, we will consider takedown/edits where there is credible legal risk, a proven material factual error, or a serious safety concern.

10) Age and capacity

You confirm you are 18+ and legally able to agree to these Terms. If you are under 18, you must not participate unless a parent/guardian provides written consent before recording.

11) Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and you submit to the courts of New Zealand.
