This week, Will Jordan makes All Blacks history, Hautapu powers into the Waikato Premier Rugby final, the Warriors bounce back in style, Israel Adesanya makes a major career change, Conor McGregor’s long-awaited UFC return ends in disaster, and the Bazball era comes to an end.

The All Blacks continued their strong start under Dave Rennie with a 47–17 win over Italy in Wellington. Will Jordan scored a hat-trick to become the first All Black to reach 50 test tries, moving to the top of New Zealand’s all-time try-scoring list. We look at what Jordan’s record means, the All Blacks’ improving form and the looming series against the Springboks.

Closer to home, Quentin’s Hautapu side produced a dominant 49–12 semifinal victory over Fraser Tech to book their place in the Waikato Premier Rugby final. They now have the chance to stop Marist from completing a three-peat. Hautapu Development also recorded an incredible 99–0 semifinal win over Te Awamutu.

Jason then takes over for a massive week in combat sports. UFC 329 produced one of the biggest nights in the promotion’s history, including a record gate and 11 finishes. Conor McGregor’s return after five years ended within seconds when a knee injury handed Max Holloway a first-round TKO victory. Paddy Pimblett continued his rise with a rapid submission victory, while Auckland-born Robert Whittaker made an impressive light-heavyweight debut with a third-round stoppage. We also discuss Carlos Ulberg’s position at the top of the division and Israel Adesanya’s shock departure from City Kickboxing after 17 years.

The Warriors are also back in the winner’s circle after a convincing 32–6 victory over the Wests Tigers. Alofiana Khan-Pereira crossed for another two tries, the Warriors’ defence shut the Tigers out in the second half, and the result moved the club to an 11–5 record and second place on the NRL ladder. We discuss whether the Warriors are genuine top-four and premiership contenders, the importance of their upcoming run of matches, Bunty Afoa’s sin-binning against his former club and how the Warriors will replace the leadership of departing co-captain Mitch Barnett.

Finally, we look at the end of the Bazball era after former Black Caps captain Brendon McCullum was removed as England’s Test coach. Did New Zealand’s recent series victory help bring Bazball to an end?
