Jason and Ben Presling go back to high school. So this one is a bit different. No guest resume, no career highlights. Just two blokes who have known each other for a long time sitting down and going through the stories.

Episode 7 is the ShedLife Christmas Special, and it earns that label.

A lot of it is about cars. Ben was deep in the NZ car scene, drifting, and the kind of driving that definitely happened but is better left in the past. He talks about that world with the enthusiasm of someone who genuinely loved it, and there are a few stories in there that will land well with anyone who grew up around that scene in the 90s.

He also talks about the years after school. He left in sixth form, worked at Mobil, and then ended up doing door-to-door sales with Jason before eventually heading to Japan. Japan is where the car conversation goes to another level. Ben saw a side of Japanese car culture that most people in New Zealand only read about, and he talks through what that was actually like.

There is a lot of laughter in this episode. But underneath the stories there is also something real about how those early years shape you, the choices you make when you are young and figuring things out, and how you look back on them later.

Good one to listen to over Christmas with something cold in your hand.
